Mayo saga just getting started

O.J. Mayo didn't make the announcement he was expected to at the Reebok ABCD camp. Nor did he look like the No. 1 high school player in all the land. So all in all, Jeff Goodman says it was a disappointing week thanks to Mayo. More @ Fox Sports

Pettis sentenced to life in prison for murder

Former Fresno State basketball player Terry Pettis was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without parole for murdering a teenage woman in a botched drug robbery. The sentence was handed down in Fresno County Superior Court after a series of emotional speeches by Pettis, his father and the family of the victim, 18-year-old Rene Shannon Abbott. Pettis, 21, was convicted May 26 of first-degree murder and armed robbery. More @ Fox Sports

Forward Tyus commits to Florida

Alex Tyus (Scout.com, No. 45) came out to ABCD with something to prove. The 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward nearly didn't participate because of a fractured finger, but he knew that the only way to get an elusive scholarship offer was to fare well — and that's just what he did. More @ Fox Sports

Big Baby's not so big anymore

When LSU reached the Final Four in March, hoopheads took note of 6-9, 310-pound Glen ''Big Baby'' Davis's big skills ... and big size. Four months later, he still has the skills, but not so much on the size. Davis, who will return to LSU, has dropped 45 pounds and counting. More @ Fox Sports

Elite recruit Walker ruled ineligible

Bill Walker was 100 percent certain he'd be at North College Hill (Ohio) for a final go-around less than 24 hours ago. Now if he does return, it won't be as a player. More @ Fox Sports
